Church Leaders of Canada, including the 2023 Moderator of The Presbyterian Church in Canada’s General Assembly, the Rev. Mary Fontaine, call for peace as the war against Ukraine enters its third year.

Issuing a pastoral letter, the 45 Christian leaders mark this anniversary by inviting Christians and people of goodwill to join in united prayer and action for peace. The call to prayer and action also acknowledges ongoing conflict elsewhere in the world: “Without in any way minimizing or ignoring the suffering and sorrow caused by war and violence in other areas of the world, we stand together in inviting Christians and all people of goodwill to prayerfully consider how we are all called and might contribute to, the achievement of peace in and for Ukraine.”

Read the complete statement in English , French and Ukrainian on the Canadian Council of Churches website, which also contains prayers for peace in multiple languages. The Council worked in close coordination with the World Evangelical Alliance’s Peace & Reconciliation Network and The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada to prepare, build consensus around, and endorse this letter.
