Ms. Frances Della NugentFrances Nugent (née Clark) died peacefully in her 95th year, surrounded by family, at home in Kitchener. Beloved wife of 54 years to the late Rev. Hugh L. Nugent (2014), and daughter to the late Joe and Kitty Clark. Dearly loved mother to Cathy (Dan) Rudell, Margaret (Bill) Woods, Joe (Sue) Nugent, Nancy (Rob) McNamara, and Kerry (Bill) Weir. She will be greatly missed by her 11 grandchildren.

Frances was born in Brantford and attended Brantford Collegiate Institute. She graduated from Hamilton Normal School and taught students in primary grades, before attending the Presbyterian Missionary and Deaconess Training School in Toronto. She married Hugh Nugent, a newly ordained Presbyterian minister, in 1959. They served the charges of: Scotstown, Milan and Megantic in the Eastern Townships of Quebec; Chatsworth, Williamsford and Dornoch near Owen Sound; Wyoming, Camlachie and Bear Creek near Sarnia; Ripley and Ashfield on Lake Huron; and Fort Frances in northwestern Ontario’s Rainy River district. Frances was a Christian educator who lived a life of faithful service, especially in her work with women and children. She was a longtime member of the Women’s Missionary Society and Central Presbyterian Church Brantford.

Frances was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, and her family meant the world to her. She was a lifelong crafter, loved books and cats, and enjoyed camping. She will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity, patience, love, and gentle sense of humour.

Visitation is Thursday, March 14 from 6 – 8 p.m and Friday, March 15 from 12 – 12:45 p.m. A funeral service will take place in the Thorpe Suite at 1:00 p.m. at Thorpe Brothers Funeral Home, 96 West Street, Brantford. Cremation to follow. Memorial donations can be made to Presbyterian World Service & Development, Brant County SPCA, or the charity of your choice.
