Explore the intersection of religion and fate in the film Bruce Almighty.

Project Details

In the series, Religion and Fate in Film, we will explore the intersection of religion and fate through two Hollywood films. In the film “Bruce Almighty”, a frustrated reporter who curses God and his life has an opportunity to exercise divine power over the world. Jim Carrey as Bruce encounters Morgan Freeman as God, and in comedic fashion, the film raises questions of God’s omnipotence and the predestination and free will of humanity. A webinar and study guide will provide tips for film-viewing, connections to biblical teachings and theological concepts, and guidance for discussion.
