Faith Formation with Older Adults

Shaping the faith-lives of older adults using unique and creative ways.

Facilitator: Joyce MacKichan Walker, Presbyterian Church USA
Host: Canadian Ministries

Description:
Although forming faith draws on many practices that hold for all-ages, there are unique and distinctive ways to help shape the faith-lives of older adults. Let’s explore some of these and the principles that both undergird them and encourage your own creativity when working with mature and older adults.

Joyce MacKichan Walker was the director of Christian education at Nassau Presbyterian Church in Princeton, New Jersey for 18 years, and in 2007 became the minister of education. Joyce teaches certification classes for educational ministry in the PC(USA), and for POAMN – The Presbyterian Older Adult Ministry Network, in addition to teaching adjunct at Princeton Theological Seminary. She is a Canadian-American who grew up in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and returns to Canada at least once a year. She retired in July of 2018 so now is thrilled to say yes to fun and challenging invitations to teach, especially if they involve travel!
