Description:
In this webinar, Karen Plater explores how congregations can reclaim the word stewardship. Using a variety of case studies, she introduces a number of tools congregations can use to build financial sustainability including how to teach stewardship principals all year round, building intentional stewardship campaigns to ask for gifts, saying thank you and giving updates. She also talks about practical tools to make it easy for people to give, including digital giving and having a plan to receive for planned gifts. Stewardship committees are encouraged to embrace joy, foster a culture of stewardship, and make it easy for people to give while emphasizing transparency and trust. Finally, if congregations are doing all these things, but they can’t raise enough support to sustain a building they can consider how to continue the legacy of the congregation through amalgamation and/or by supporting ongoing mission and ministry through their presbytery and denomination.
