Taybeh, the only remaining Christian village in the West Bank, includes Christian archaeology dating back to the Roman era and early Christianity. Located in the Ramallah area of the West Bank, the village’s population has dwindled to 1,200 people, all of them Christians. In the 1980s, the population was around 3,000.
The World Council of Churches (WCC) reports that, surrounded by four settlements, the village has been repeatedly attacked by Israeli settlers through arson, shootings, and the destruction of trees, including damage to an ancient church. Video footage shows settlers riding through Christian families’ properties on all-terrain vehicles, shouting and harassing residents. Children are especially frightened during these scenes.
