On Thursday, August 13, youth and young adults dove into workshops exploring everything from Scottish country dancing to youth advocacy and conversations about why church matters. Across the gathering, participants had opportunities to learn new skills, ask big questions, share their experiences, and discover new ways to put faith into action.
Keynote speaker, J.R. LaRose, challenged participants to think about what it means to rise and meet the moments before them – and to become who they need to be, both for themselves and for those who need them.
Throughout the day, moving testimonies were shared by youth and young adults, including global partners – a reminder of the many communities, experiences, and perspectives gathered together at Collective.
Participants also engaged organizations that support young people and serve the world. They met with theological colleges, youth organizations, advocacy groups, ecumenical collectives, and global partnership and development agencies.
And there was plenty of joy! From games and delicious food to an incredible DJ-led worship service that had participants dancing together, community continued to take shape in unexpected and joyful ways.
We are grateful for for the energy, wisdom, faith, and joy that youth and young adults are bringing to this gathering – and excited for all that is still to come as they continue to (em)brace for impact.
