Myanmar Earthquake Response

Impact Stories, Past Responses

On March 28, Myanmar and Thailand were struck by a devastating earthquake measuring 7.7 in magnitude. The current death toll is over 3,700, with thousands more injured or missing.

Entire communities have been destroyed, leaving thousands of people homeless. Exacerbating the issue in Myanmar, communities hit by the earthquake were already hosting over 1.6 million people displaced from elsewhere in the country. Priority needs include emergency shelters, food, clean water, medical care, and other non-food items.

PWS&D is able to respond through our ecumenical networks and coalitions, including ACT Alliance and with matching funds at Canadian Foodgrains Bank.

Please keep the people of Myanmar and Thailand in your prayers.
