John BannermanCo-Convener, Ontario John joined PWS&D’s committee in 2018. He is minister of Chalmers Presbyterian Church in London, ON. In 2017, John participated in the PCC’s Healing and Reconciliation Tour and remains active in stewardship and mission, currently serving as convener of the Presbytery of London’s mission team. John enjoys music, family life, sports and exploring God’s creation.
Theresa McDonald-LeeCo-Convener, Ontario Theresa joined the PWS&D committee in 2019. She is the Co-Executive Director at Camp Kintail near Goderich, Ontario. She is passionate about creating an equitable and compassionate world, beginning with children. Theresa loves the story of the welcome table that God sets for all. She is looking forward to championing the good work of PWS&D.
Okelo AballaCommittee, Alberta Okelo is a certified candidate for ordination and a VST student. He has been a leader for Anyuak Worshipping Community for the last 15 years (the worshipping community became part of Centennial Presbyterian church in 2016), and he is an elder in Centennial. In addition, he works as a CNC Programming Engineer.
Committee, Nova Scotia
Victoria joined the PWS&D Committee in 2021. She is currently completing her Masters degree in Occupational Therapy at Dalhousie University and will be graduating in 2022. Victoria participated in the Presbyterian Church’s Healing and Reconciliation tour in 2019, as she is passionate about justice and advocacy. Victoria looks forward to bringing her skills and passion to the committee.
Laura HargroveCommittee, Manitoba Laura joined PWS&D’s committee in 2019. She is the teaching elder at First Presbyterian Church in Brandon, Manitoba and serves on the Presbytery Mission committee. She has a background in Home Economics and is interested in food sustainability and strengthening families. She spent a few months in Kenya working with the local church when she was a theological student. Laura enjoys music, food and dance from around the world as well as gardening and travel.
Shahrzad KandalaftCommittee, Ontario Shahrzad joined the PWS&D Committee in 2021. She graduated from The Presbyterian College in Montreal in May 2014 and was ordained into the ministry in May 2017. In November 2021, Shahrzad began her new ministry as a Family Pastor at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Ottawa, Ontario. She is passionate about social justice, equality and diversity. She looks forward to serving God through her participation in PWS&D’s ministry.
Thomas KimCommittee, British Columbia Thomas Kim is the minister at Calvin Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford BC. He received his BA in Intercultural Religious Studies from Trinity Western University, his M. Div. from Regent College, and completed further studies at Vancouver School of Theology. Thomas sees his primary calling to equip others for ministry using his gifts in leadership. He enjoys hosting friends and family, playing sports, gardening, painting, traveling various parts of the world with his backpack and eating together.
Brett MeyerCommittee, QuebecBrett is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at McGill University. He received his PhD from Carnegie Mellon University in 2009, and joined McGill in 2011. His research lab is focused on computer engineering and machine learning; Brett is also involved with leading the Faculty of Engineering’s efforts to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion on campus. Brett is a member and contemporary worship leader at Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Beaconsfield, Quebec.
Susan ViegasCommittee, Ontario Susan joined PWS&D’s committee in 2018. She is senior advisor at the City of Toronto’s Economic Development Division and has experience in government, academia and the private sector in technology-related and financial services and consumer packaged goods. Passionate about global politics and community development, Susan looks forward to contributing towards a compassionate and sustainable agenda.
Donna WilkinsonCommittee, Saskatchewan After serving 25 years ago, Donna returned to join PWS&D’s committee in 2018. With PWS&D, Donna has travelled to Malawi, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Pakistan, India and most recently, Haiti. She manages a group home for three men with autism, teaches at the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan and donates her time at Camp Christopher. She is a member of First Presbyterian Church in Regina.
