Join the Journey for Hope!

Save the date! On September 28, PWS&D is encouraging supporters to walk, run, ride or do another activity they love to raise money for the vital work we do around the world. Currently, the world is experiencing a food crisis triggered by climate change, the COVID-19 pandemic and conflicts such as the one in Ukraine—and it’s only getting worse. This year, we hope to raise $20,000 for PWS&D’s food security projects around the world.

For seven years, PWS&D supporters have laced up their shoes to get moving and support the work of PWS&D. Previously, this was organized as Ride for Refuge by the Blue Sea Foundation. This year, join us for PWS&D’s annual Journey for Hope!

Individuals: Click here to find a team and location near you, then contact the team captain to sign up!

Team Leaders: If you would like to organize a team and location, please fill out this form. If you have any questions or require more information, contact Karen Bokma.

No, there is no fee or minimum fundraising requirement to participate in the Journey for Hope.

You can do anything to fundraise! Keep track of donations by directing people to visit the custom donation page that has been set up for your team. They can also mail a cheque to the office at 50 Wynford Drive. All donations for the Journey should be received at the office by October 31, 2023.

Yes! A pledge form is available to help record offline donations.

Alternatively, you can encourage supporters to send cash/cheque donations to the PWS&D office at 50 Wynford Drive, indicated which participant they are supporting, and the donation can be applied to the appropriate team.

Yes! If you have collecting offline donations that you would like credited towards your team fundraising total, just send a message to kbokma@presbyterian.ca  and the donations will be added to the total.

If you would like a Journey for Hope-branded t-shirt to wear with your team during the event, please fill out this form and return it to eclarke@presbyterian.ca

*In an effort to support sustainability, if you have a t-shirt from last year, you are welcome to use it again.

Each team will have its own donation page. You can customize it with why doing the ride is important to you, and send us a fun picture! Fill out this form and we’ll get started on your page.

If you are an individual who would like to participate, please reach out to Stephanie Chunoo (schunoo@presbyterian.ca) to discuss details.

While we hope that most people will be able to get moving on the same date, we understand that sometimes doesn’t work. If another date works better for your team, you are welcome to participate on that date. We just ask that all donations for the Journey for Hope are received by October 31.

Due to changes in the structure of Ride for Refuge, PWS&D made the decision to create our own event – the Journey for Hope!

It will feel very similar to the events of the past, especially the ones local groups have hosted throughout the pandemic. We hope that teams and participants who have previously supported PWS&D in the Ride for Refuge, will join us on the Journey.

We will support you by providing team donation pages and other support materials. If there is anything your team needs to do the Journey for Hope, please reach out to Stephanie Chunoo at schunoo@presbyterian.ca.

PWS&D and the PCC do not provide insurance coverage for local events. Please check with your local church to ensure that they have liability insurance that covers events.
