Nepal Flood Response

Impact Stories, Nepal

On August 26, 2026, a devastating flash flood struck Nepal. Thousands of people have been affected by the loss of homes, livelihoods and essential services. Roads, bridges, electricity and communications infrastructure have suffered extensive damage, making access to some communities extremely difficult. Schools have also been badly affected, particularly in Rasuwa and Nuwakot. The flood was caused by a massive surge of water, claiming lives and leaving significant destruction in its path.

While the areas where PWS&D’s long-term development projects are implemented have not been affected, PWS&D is able to respond through its networks and coalitions. Priorities include emergency shelter, food, clean water and sanitation, health and education.
