October 7, 2025, marks two years since the start of the war in Gaza. Since the beginning of the conflict, more than 61,000 people have been killed. More than 130,000 people have been injured, millions have been displaced multiple times and extensive damage to health facilities and other civilian infrastructure has left almost the entire population of Gaza without access to clean drinking water or adequate nutrition, resulting in famine being declared in Gaza City.
Humanitarian organizations and aid convoys are facing significant challenges in providing life-saving aid, as they often encounter heavy restrictions and obstacles put in place by Israeli government forces. The humanitarian crisis in Gaza will continue to worsen unless the war is stopped.
Despite these challenges, PWS&D continues to respond through our ecumenical networks and partnerships at ACT Alliance and Canadian Foodgrains Bank. In June, PWS&D again committed funds to the ACT appeal for Palestine. These funds will support a combination of medical services, distribution of hygiene kits, water and food, activities to improve mental health, psychosocial interventions and whatever the urgent need may be at present.

Urgent action is required to end the war in Gaza. Every day, more innocent lives are lost, more people are injured and more families are displaced. As people of faith, we are called not to stay silent in the face of injustice. When we advocate for the end to conflict, it is to honour God’s command for justice and compassion.
