PWS&D Advent Liturgies

Inspired by God’s promise of abundant life, Presbyterians are responding to God’s call to care for the poor, sick and vulnerable, and to restore human dignity, ease the pain of want and promote community cooperation.

As we prepare to celebrate the birth of Christ,  PWS&D's Advent liturgies are a great way to remember our brothers and sisters around the world. This year’s liturgies were written by the Rev. Robert J. Murray of Pinawa Christian Fellowship in Manitoba.

School Cemetery Becomes Provincial Heritage Property

On August 14, a plaque was unveiled at the Regina Indian Industrial School (RIIS) Cemetery in recognition of the Saskatchewan government’s official designation of the site as a provincial heritage property. The RIIS was operated by the PCC between 1891-1910.

The cemetery contains the graves of at least 35 Indigenous children from communities across Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba who died while attending the RIIS.

Sunday, September 30 is Orange Shirt Day, a day for communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation, recognizing the harm caused by the residential school system and to imagine a better future. Use the available bulletin insert and remember to wear your orange shirt to help increase awareness of this important date.
