A summary of recommendations adopted by the 2019 General Assembly regarding human sexuality.
GA 2019 wrapped up with an address by Kerry Rice (PCUSA), discussion of Option B from the Report of the Special Committee, completion of the Assembly Council and LMA reports and reflection by student representatives and YARs of their Assembly experience.
Wednesday evening focused on a time of sharing and listening surrounding the implications of the votes taken yesterday from the Special Report of Former Moderators.
Assembly heard reports from the WMS and AMS, Committee to Nominate, Presbyterian Colleges, Committee on Church Doctrine, Rainbow Communion, along with presentations from our Ecumenical guests and Cutting Edge of Mission Award recipient.
Highlights from the morning included Committee reports and members of the National Indigenous Ministry Council joined the Assembly for discussion over the Doctrine of Discovery.
Tuesday evening included reports from the Trustee Board, International Affairs Committee, Committee on History, MacLean Estate Committee, Assembly Clerks and Committee to Confer.
The Special Committee of Former Moderators report outlined four pathways for the church to consider as ways to move forward. The General Assembly decided that Pathway B (inclusion) be approved.
Monday afternoon wrapped up with the first part of the Rainbow Communion's report and a reflection by the Rev. Daniel Cho on his year as the 2018 Moderator.
The Assembly highlighted the work of healing and reconciliation, and acknowledge the 25th anniversary of the 1994 Confession to God and Indigenous people.
