In partnership with International Nepal Fellowship (INF), PWS&D is supporting the Shining Hospital to bring health and hope to people affected by tuberculosis (TB) and leprosy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
INF uses local media (radio and newspapers) to raise awareness about TB and leprosy. This encourages people to visit the hospital and reduces stigma and discrimination towards people living with these conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Work is carried out in surrounding villages to raise awareness of basic health and hygiene practices. Community members will often seek treatment for TB, leprosy and other illnesses from traditional healers. When their health continues to deteriorate they turn to the Shining Hospital for treatment and, with time, their health improves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After helping patients overcome illness, INF will empower individuals to learn vocational skills and establish livelihoods to support themselves and their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PWS&D is also working with INF to strengthen the resilience of communities in poor rural areas in Western Nepal to climate change impacts and improve their capacity to manage disaster risks.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
