A state of emergency has been declared in British Columbia after a week of historic rainfall caused devastating flooding. Thousands have been displaced. Highway closures and disrupted transportation routes have left many stranded and in need.
PWS&D is accepting funds in response to this crisis. We are in contact with the presbyteries in B.C. to assess need and will continue to consult with them as a response is developed.
To date, PWS&D has contributed funds to a project organized by St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Kamloops. Christmas gift baskets will be provided to families and children from Merritt, B.C. who were forced to evacuate. Families will receive toys, clothing, toiletries and gift cards.
Additional programming will be planned in the new year.
Please join us in praying for safety and recovery for all of those affected by this disaster.
