February 2-8 is International Development Week (IDW), a chance to celebrate Canadians who are helping reduce poverty and grow peace and opportunity in communities around the world. (Start the celebration in your congregation on February 2 – PWS&D Sunday!)
This year’s theme “Go for the Goals” calls us to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
In 2015, Canada committed to the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which has, at its heart, 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Last year, Canada and other UN members committed to the Decade of Action aimed at accelerating progress on the goals over the next 10 years.
Through PWS&D, Canadians are supporting vital projects in development and relief that are working to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals through food security, health, livelihoods and human rights programs.
Thanks to PWS&D’s faithful donors, Champion, supporters and partners, we are reducing global poverty and building hope and prosperity for all creation—one person at a time.
PWS&D has joined with organizations from across the country to promote International Development Week—learn more about IDW and ways to get involved.
