The Life and Mission Agency is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Guy Smagghe as an Associate Secretary of the Life and Mission Agency and as Director of Presbyterian World Service & Development, the development and relief agency of The Presbyterian Church in Canada. This appointment will take effect as of September 1, 2015.
“I am delighted at the news of my appointment. With the support of the Presbyterian constituency and a strong team, I look forward to leading PWS&D in the implementation of its most recent strategic plan, working towards a more sustainable, compassionate and just world,” shares Guy.
Guy began at PWS&D in 1997 as Program Coordinator. During this time he has coordinated PWS&D’s development and relief programs and acted as the agency’s Government Relations Officer, helping to secure government funding on an ongoing basis. Since 2009, he has served as Senior Program Coordinator for the agency.
Guy has a Masters degree in Political Economy of Development from the University of Toronto, and a certificate in Human Resources Management. Guy has lived and worked in Latin America and Africa. He is a proven leader in the Canadian ecumenical development sector and represents PWS&D on the board of Canadian Foodgrains Bank.
