For many girls in Afghanistan, education is viewed as a privilege and not a right. Many families cannot afford to send their daughters to school and keep them home to earn additional income, while other parents do not allow their daughters to go to school due to a lack of female teachers and traditional beliefs that place less value on the education of girls.

PWS&D is working with local partner Church World Service – Pakistan/Afghanistan (CWS-P/A) to overcome barriers to girls’ education and get more girls into the classroom.
