Permanent, Part-time (3 days/week)

The Financial Services department is responsible for all the accounting functions of the national office of The Presbyterian Church in Canada (PCC) and provides accounting support to ministries and congregations of the PCC.

Job Summary
Reporting to the Accountant/Controller, the Payroll Administrator and Assistant Accountant is responsible for all payroll processing for the Life & Mission Agency (LMA), the General Assembly Office (GAO), Support Services, Pension & Benefits Office, Presbyterian Church Building Corporation (PCBC) and the Women’s Missionary Society (WMS). The incumbent is responsible for the payroll cycle of the organization and will assist the Accountant/Controller in ensuring the overall effectiveness of the Financial Services department. The Payroll Administrator will respond in a timely fashion to church treasurers and members of the constituency regarding payroll related questions. The incumbent is a team player and effective communicator who is dynamic, highly motivated and hardworking with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Professional Qualifications

  • Certified Payroll Manager with a minimum of 5 years work experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in pension and group insurance plans.
  • Community College degree in Finance, Administration, General Management or Business (or
  • An understanding of bookkeeping / accounting.

Skills desired

  • Expert payroll knowledge and experience.
  • Demonstrated high proficiency in WFN (Workforce Now-ADP) payroll system, Microsoft Excel, Sage 300.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial administration and accounting.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proven communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to maintain and manage sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to work effectively with efficiency and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity in dealing with staff and regulators.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with demonstrated commitment to work cooperatively and contribute to a positive and supportive working environment.
  • Knowledge of and respect for the beliefs, structure, programs and polity of The Presbyterian Church in Canada.

Starting salary: $36,000

This is a permanent part-time position working 21 hours per week with pension and benefits package.
