For those who would like to donate to relief efforts, the Government of Canada has announced that it will match all funds donated to the Canadian Red Cross up to October 23, 2022. Visit the Canadian Red Cross website to donate to support relief, recovery, resiliency and risk reduction activities.

Presbyterian World Service & Development is also accepting funds online here (not matched by government funds).

Eternal God,
you created the world in beauty
you set limits on the oceans and winds
and you called all creation good.
With fear and trembling we forget
the natural forces of chaos and destruction defy control
and rock us by their fury.

God of compassion,
you hear the cries and know the tears
of all who are in trouble or distress;
accept our prayers for those whose lives are affected by
storms and flooding, by the weather’s now altered patterns and nature’s power.

We remember especially the people of Atlantic Canada;
guard the injured,
protect those in danger,
comfort those who are grieving the loss of life,
of livelihood,
of dreams and
of things they value
and soothe the anxious.
Support with your care all those who serve in emergency services
and all who bring comfort and relief.

And help us to serve and support people in need with our actions as well as our prayers.
In the name of Jesus, we pray.
