Intergenerational Trauma, Colonization and Anti-Indigenous Racism Webinar
September 23, 2021 | 1 p.m. (Eastern)

The impacts of trauma caused by colonization have deadly consequences for Indigenous people in Canada today.

This webinar, taking place on Thursday, September 23, at 1 p.m. (Eastern), will review how systemic racism underpins the colonial roots of Canada and the church, and how this has caused intergenerational trauma for Indigenous peoples and communities.

Karen Utech is an elder at Place of Hope Indigenous Presbyterian Church in Winnipeg, Manitoba; Susan Currie, R.S.W, is the parish social worker; and the Rev. Dr. Margaret Mullin is the minister at Place of Hope. Together, Karen, Susan and Margaret will discuss how intergenerational trauma and systemic racism impact the ministry of their congregation and the ways they are working for healing and wholeness.
