Systemic Racism: When an Individual’s Words Illuminate the Space in Which They’re Said
Dr. Allyson Carr, Associate Secretary of Justice Ministries, has written on the death of Joyce Echaquan, an Indigenous woman in a hospital in Quebec, and the racist words that were spoken to her in her last moments by the hospital workers she was in the care of—statements which illuminate the need to recognize and confront the unacceptable behaviour that is often permitted in our society as a result of systemic racism.

Calling Congregations to Submit to the
Presbyterian Connection Newspaper
The Fall 2020 issue of the Presbyterian Connection newspaper was sent out in September, and this latest issue is once again filled with lots of amazing articles and photos from congregations and groups across the country. Your contributions truly share the Good News when good news may be hard to find.
We are now inviting congregations to submit stories, reflections, or photos for the News and Gatherings sections of the Winter 2020–21 edition. We would love to hear about new ministry and outreach initiatives along with any recent gatherings/events (be it online or in-person with safe distancing measures).
The submission deadline for the Winter 2020–21 edition is October 15.

Advent 2020 Book Study
In Advent 2020, Presbyterians across the country are invited to join a denomination-wide book study on Amy-Jill Levine’s Light of the World: A Beginner’s Guide to Advent.
Levine’s knowledge of the New Testament, strong storytelling skills and deep love of the gospels will guide Presbyterians through Advent while reflecting on the birth of Jesus as it is told in the first two chapters of Matthew and Luke.
The free four-part study guide—designed to work for groups meeting online or in-person—is now available to download on the PCC website.
