Doreen Roberta Morrison, R.N., B.Sc.N., was a missionary nurse who served 36 years in India. She died on May 25, 2020, in Toronto. Doreen graduated from the nursing school of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario. She was appointed to serve in India in February of 1962, retiring in 1998. She was a Community Health Nurse working directly with the people in several communities within the Vindhya Satpura area (Bhil region) of India. During her last assignment she trained women in a handloom weaving project in Mandleshwar and later in Jobat, India. This income generation initiative was well received by the women.
After retirement, Doreen lived for many years in the apartments at Westminster Presbyterian Church, in Toronto. Doreen was active in her Toronto church and was ordained as an elder during that time.
Doreen is survived by one sister. She was buried with her parents in Hamilton, Ontario. A celebration of her life will be held after the COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
