On May 7-9, 2020, Presbyterians in Canada are invited to join the National Indigenous Ministry Council for a three-day prayer retreat at the Sandy-Saulteaux Retreat Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
This retreat offers the unique opportunity to participate in an Indigenous-led, relationship-building spiritual retreat, where Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods will invite participants into a deeper relationship with God and each other.
At the retreat, Indigenous Christian leaders who serve in Presbyterian Ministries across the country will lead participants in worship, prayer, spiritual practices, sharing and discussion. Rooted in Christian faith and Indigenous tradition, this retreat will be a time of learning, renewal and fellowship in the spirit of reconciliation.
Our call to reconciliation and healing is critical to our vocations as believers in a reconciling God. In 2 Corinthians 5, Paul writes: “we are new creations in Christ…who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and gave us the ministry of reconciliation” (v.17–18).
This retreat is an opportunity for Indigenous and non-Indigenous people to build reconciling relationships through a shared faith in Christ as they learn about how it is lived out through Indigenous ways of knowing, being, teaching, and practicing faith.
Dates: May 7–9, 2020
Location: Sandy-Saulteaux Spiritual Centre, 29 Dugard Rd, Beausejour, Manitoba R0E 0C0
