The World Council of Churches (WCC) 11th Assembly will be from September 8–15, 2021, in Karlsruhe, Germany. The Assembly is the WCC’s highest governing body which gathers every seven to eight years. The Presbyterian Church in Canada is invited to send one delegate to this Assembly.
The Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations Committee is seeking applications of individuals from across the church for the appointment of our delegate. The committee may also send nominations to the WCC to be considered as additional delegates in order to strengthen the diversity of the Assembly. Interested individuals are to complete the application form and submit to Terrie-Lee Hamilton by December 15, 2019.
There will be opportunities for other participants to attend the 11th Assembly:
- Stewards are young people who serve at governing body meeting.
- Resource people who are invited directly by the WCC.
- The Global Ecumenical Theological Institute (GETI) is a program for seminary students.
- Visitors who attend at their own initiative and cost.
Further information about these categories and the Assembly will be posted, when available. Letters have been sent to sessions and presbyteries.
