The student stream of the Rural and Remote Ministry Grant encourages seminary students to gain ministry experience in a rural and remote congregation during the summer.
One of the approved ministries this year was the Presbytery of Edmonton-Lakeland. The Presbytery’s summer student was Enjei Achah, who will be attending her final year of studies at Presbyterian College in September. During the past few months, Enjei travelled throughout northern Alberta assisting congregations within the Presbytery. She gained valuable experience leading worship and preaching, making pastoral visits, helping with Vacation Bible Camps and attending session and Presbytery meetings.
Enjei also spent one week serving as chaplain at Camp Kannawin, located near Red Deer, AB. Enjei says that through her experience this summer, her faith in God has grown and she feels reaffirmed in her call to serve in ministry. Travelling throughout the province and meeting so many different people has helped her to cultivate an openness towards others – showing Christ’s love to all.
