In the book of Acts, the disciples travelled far and wide to share the gospel message of Christ. The Rural and Remote Ministry Grant (student stream) provides assistance for seminary students to gain ministry experience in a rural and remote congregation during the summer. In 2018, one of the approved ministries was Knox Presbyterian Church, located in Bayfield, ON, on the shores of Lake Huron.
Knox’s summer student was Emily Webb, who had just completed her second year of studies at Knox College in the Master of Divinity program. Emily’s responsibilities over the summer included leading Sunday worship and preaching, making pastoral visits and conducting retirement home services. Emily also assisted with the Kintail on the Road program – a weekly camp held on Wednesdays throughout July and August that include games, crafts and bible stories for kids.
Emily’s enthusiasm for mission and worship was a blessing to Knox Bayfield. In turn, the congregation provided a supporting and encouraging summer experience for Emily.
