The moderator, Rev. Douglas H. Rollwage, has signed an ecumenical and interfaith letter praying for the work that will take place at the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
The conference takes place November 7–18 in Marrakech, Morocco, and the 18 signatories, who are all faith leaders in Canada, are praying that the Paris Agreement will be implemented in a way that is fair, effective and responds to the poor.
“The warming of our global climate poses numerous problems and challenges. We strongly believe that religions can truly contribute to building up a safer, healthier and more just society. We thus take to heart this Conference’s deliberations and wish to applaud all the conscientious and selfless efforts that are being made on behalf of the world community, the good of every human person, and the gift of creation itself. May your work in Marrakech be blessed and contribute to the protection of the earth, our common home.”
