PWS&D is responding to the victims of Haiti’s earthquake through the Action by Churches Together Alliance. As one of the largest alliances working on relief in Haiti, the ACT Alliance continues to provide:
- Food
- Water purification equipment
- Medical equipment, medical teams and portable hospitals
- Tents, temporary shelter, blankets and jerry cans
- Trauma counselling
- Hygiene kits and healthcare for children
An estimated two million people are homeless and 200,000 are assumed dead. Several strong aftershocks have caused more damage and deaths, and sent people fleeing the city for rural areas.
Haiti Gift of Hope Cards
Make a donation to Haiti relief in someone’s honour and we’ll send them a Gift of Hope card featuring a picture from the emergency response in Haiti.
Your Help is Needed
The response from Canadians across the country has been overwhelming, helping people get desperately needed relief. You can join this effort by making a donation to PWS&D by calling 1-800-619-7301 ext. 291, donating online, through your church or mailing a cheque to the office. Please mark all donations “Haiti Relief.”
The Canadian International Development Agency is matching donations from individual Canadians until February 12, 2010. For congregations sending PWS&D one cheque, please include a letter identifying the names and amounts of individual donations that make up the total to ensure these funds are eligible for matching.![]()
