Canadian Foodgrains Bank

Families continue to rebuild their lives one year following the massive and widespread flooding in Pakistan. Over the past year, PWS&D has worked with the ACT Alliance, Canadian Foodgrains Bank and local partner Church World Service Pakistan-Afghanistan to provide food, shelter, medical care and emergency supplies to nearly 300,000 flood-affected people. Thank you to Presbyterians in Canada who have generously raised nearly $400,000 to support these programs.

Rebuilding Livelihoods

PWS&D continues to partner with flood-affected people in Pakistan to help them rebuild their livelihoods. Although much has been accomplished to date, there is still much more that needs to be done. In partnership with Canadian Foodgrains Bank, PWS&D is supporting 3,150 people in Swat to purchase seeds, fertilizers and agricultural tools to restart their farms and small vegetable gardens. Fruit trees will also be distributed, and farmers will receive training on how to properly manage integrated crops, fruit trees and livestock. Community members will receive disaster risk management training in order to learn how to cope effectively with future disasters.

You Can Help!

Your faithful prayers and financial support will ensure that the people of Pakistan continue to receive the help they need in order to rebuild their lives after such a devastating disaster. You can donate through your church, mail a cheque to the office, donate online or call PWS&D. Please mark all donations as “Pakistan Flood Relief.”
