Getting to Zero: Zero Discrimination

This World AIDS Day, 1 December 2011, we are focusing on the goal of zero discrimination, and you can help us reach this goal. As we pray and reflect on the challenges we face and achievements we have made in the fight against HIV and AIDS, let us remember those who suffer from stigma and persecution because of HIV. Let us find ways that we can stop discrimination in our communities, our country, our world.

The Presbyterian Church in Canada is actively working with partners in Canada and around the world to support people living with and affected by HIV and AIDS. Together we are:

  • Helping people work against stigma and discrimination,
  • Teaching and equipping people to prevent the spread of HIV,
  • Providing home-based care to people living with the disease,
  • Preventing the spread of HIV from mother to child,
  • Providing access to HIV counselling and testing in remote areas,
  • Supporting grandmothers and other people caring for orphans and vulnerable children.

Our vision is a world where all people can access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support. We dream of a world where the dignity, quality of life and rights of everyone living with or affected by HIV are upheld. Together we are working for a world where no more people die of AIDS, no more people are infected with HIV and everyone is respected and loved, regardless of their status. It’s what Jesus taught us to do.

Take the lead

You can inspire others to learn more and help fight AIDS. Talk about AIDS with family and friends. Raise funds for The Presbyterian Church in Canada’s AIDS campaigns. Advocate for access to treatment for all. Together we will get to zero.
