This is sad news indeed! I first met Geoff and Mary Lou when I had a summer placement at Flemington Park. We became good friends and received much encouragement when we were considering an appointment to Malawi. Geoff was an engaging preacher. I always remember a sermon on “Canadians” when Geoff argued that we are a people of the North who spend our time and talents trying to be people of the ‘South’ and thus denying our God-given destiny.
Geoff was an iconoclast who ruffled a few feathers along the way! But he kept us honest and would not let us forget the Church’s mission must ever include justice and hope for the marginalized in this world. With thanksgiving for Geoff, we will pray for Mary Lou and family..
