The Rev. John Duncan Blue Passed away peacefully, at Hastings Manor, Belleville, on Sunday, December 31, 2017. John Blue was seventy years of age. John was predeceased by his parents Lloyd and Helen (Caskey) Blue. He was the beloved husband of Carol Blue. John is survived by his brother James and predeceased by his brothers Thomas and William. John was a dearly beloved brother-in-law and a wonderful uncle to his nieces and nephews. John will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and cherished friends. John worked as a hospital laboratory technician for several years before he was called to serve the Lord through caring for and helping people. After studies at Trent University and the University of Toronto, he served the Presbyterian Church in congregations in Cochrane, Peterborough and Timmins, Ontario. John had many fond memories of these people and places. John was a man with a strong faith in God and a genuine love for people. A loving and gentle man, he found that caring for others was his greatest reward. John had an inquiring mind and an adventurous spirit that led him to many interests such as: Ham radio, beekeeping, army cadets, wilderness canoeing and hiking. With Carol, he travelled through the remotest parts of Northern Ontario, the Nahanni River in the Northwest Territories and Ellesmere Island in the Arctic. After retirement, John returned to his home by the lake in Madoc and later to Hastings Manor. The family would like to thank the staff of Hastings Manor for their wonderful care and support. A memorial service will be held at St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church, Madoc, on Saturday, January 20 at 1 p.m. Arrangements are in the care of the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME , Madoc.
