Garth Poff, who was the Librarian at Candore College and Nipissing University, was a member of Calvin Presbyterian Church in North Bay. He became a valuable elder and a good friend. I could count on Garth for good advice and timely support. Garth was one of those special people who did not interfere but who was always there to help in any way he could. We worked well together for the good of the congregation. He knew what being a minister was like and often spoke to me in kindly and caring ways. I genuinely liked Garth and appreciated him and his good wife, Claire, who was also active in the congregation.
