Seeking Peace for Palestine

World Council of Churches in Palestine 2017The Rev. Ian Ross-McDonald and the Rev. Glynis Williams of the Life and Mission Agency attended a consultation hosted by the World Council of Churches in Palestine from June 21 to 23. Delegates from 12 countries gathered in Bethlehem to acknowledge that, since the war of 1967, it has been 50 years since the occupation of historic Palestine.

Churches and individuals are asked to pray for the people of Israel and Palestine, for the end of the occupation, the end of violence and fear.

In a powerful letter to the World Council of Churches, the National Coalition of Christian Organizations in Palestine described the current situation in the area as “beyond impossible.” Within the context of increased religious wars and extremism, the Coalition called on the World Council of Churches and its members to increase efforts to seek a just peace for Palestinian and Jewish people in the Holy Land.
