Proposal for a Process of Dealing with Overtures Regarding Human Sexuality

//Proposal for a Process of Dealing with Overtures Regarding Human Sexuality

The Committee on Church Doctrine and the Life and Mission Agency have created a process to address the many overtures regarding human sexuality that are before the General Assembly this year. The goal is to create a respectful place for commissioners to listen to one another and for discernment.

The supplementary report, a “Proposal for a Process of Dealing with Overtures Regarding Human Sexuality,” is now available on the GA 2015 web page. It contains goals on the process for discussion, recommended resources and an outline of the process that will take place, including listening circles and praying circles.

This important document for commissioners will help provide a foundation for respectful, meaningful discussion to take place.

Based on the discussion that will take place and other research, the Committee on Church Doctrine and Life and Mission Agency will ask the Assembly for permission to respond to the overtures in 2016.
